Thank you for this beautiful story. It reminds me my marriage and those times when we have been happy. You wrote something sweet, wise and touching. Again - thank you. Bendin from Poland

You're quite welcome.  The next chapter is sweet as well.

Evil cliffhanger bad. Quick update good. I thought of leaving the review there, but that wouldn't be much if a review, would it? The cliffhanger certainly had me (and everyone else more than likely) on the edge of our seats, and a quick end to that misery is greatly appreciated. I certainly like the direction you took Daphne in this story, and the Hermione is very different from the many other portrayals by other authors. I must say I like this take on Harry, Daphne, and Hermione, much more human and relatable. You can feel more of Harry's inhumanity (brought on by his upbringing at the hands of the Dursleys) and his general puzzlement at some of the "normal" niceties of life. You can feel the depth of Hermione's love and commitment to Harry, and Daphne's too. Really vivid amazing characters. I look forward to the ending. (You are writing one more chapter, right? The story doesn't feel quite finished if you were to leave it there.)

Chapter 7 is in the can, weighing in at 14,994 words.  So, yes, there's a little more to the story.

So is the greengrass grimoire this story's pseudo-macguffin?

At least I have seen not the slightest hint that we might look into it.

And I rather like Slytherin Hermione. But the one nit that I would pick with that scene is the thought that your deepest desire at age 11 is the same at age 18...

thanks for the story. it makes me smile.

Kokopelli replied:

You'll get a peek - for the most part the grimoire would have been of no use to Riddle, but there's no way that they could have ever convinced him of it.  The magic that would have been really useful was the shadow traveling magic, but that's not in the grimoire!

As to the durability of desires, it's about a reasonable as choosing character traits at age eleven for organizing the school house system.
