I've said it more than once and I will say it again, what makes this fascinating is not just the interplay between Susan and Harry but the characer of Paxton. I guess I am a Paxton fanboy, more's the pity. I suspect that he is effectively your self-insert, but, if so, very skillfully done.

BTW, my recommendation for a book of the moment is Love in the Time of Cholera by one of my favorite latin american fabulists....

Fascinating premise. Can't help but wonder as to what comes next. Still, I would love to see Paxton ride again. As the only active writer remaining on this site, want to take the opportunity to thank you for your marvelous works...Now if you could only get Jeconnais to finish up his Addams family story, you would be a god on earth. Thanks for everything.

Kokopelli replied:

I too would like to see Jeconais to finish Addams, but I suspect that it will be a while before Tim returns to writing.

I love the concept of this story. I look forward to seeing any future bits you write on it.

I enjoyed this, I hope you'll eventually pursue turning it into a longer story. Thanks for sharing it with us.

An interesting idea, I am very curious to see what could happen next. Don't believe I have seen anything else with all these elements.

Another woman? Is it going to be Kendra or Ariana Dumbledore?

Kokopelli replied:

Nope - not even close.

How far back is the question... Followed by whom... I find Luna to be powerful and fascinating here!

Luna's outrageous courage would earn her a spot in Gryffindor, did she want it. Of course, given that she actually looks before she leaps, she makes a better Ravenclaw.

We've all had questions about the house system and its sorting into houses according to character traits. Most of us have also read fics about the problems the blood-purists have due to marrying only their own kind. What I haven't yet seen is a story examining the social inbreeding that occurs when the two are combined. Just rambling a bit.

Mistress of Potions posted a comment on Thursday 5th March 2020 7:16pm

Luna would make a wise Mistress of Death. She has nothing left to lose and she always did love Harry, in her own way. She would have to, in order to take up such a burden.

Kokopelli replied:

Luna is a Peverel, and in part sees this as a duty - and in part sees this as a mercy - Harry never wanted the job, or the solitude that comes with the job. She also thinks that there are so many other options than black, even if it is easy to accessorize.   Luna sees the job as a tool that will let her make a difference.

I need to pay more attention sometimes,nd glad to Ed this net pet, and can't wait to see more of this in the future, just to see how the plan plus out.

This was a nice little moment in time here, and glad to see more of your writings. The character voices came through clearly, and do hope to see a follow up someday.

Greatly enjoyed this.

Excellent idea to send Lily back and have her 'influence' Dumbledore. After all, he's the cause of all the problems; Riddle is only one of the results.

Kokopelli replied:

I think in many ways Dumbledore influenced Riddle in the way he turned out.

Thanks for this very atmospheric glimpse of the downside of controlling death. Harry's tiredness came through very well, your Luna was pitch perfect, and using Lily Luna's service to get them together was inspired. It does leave me wondering whether Harry will return at some earlier point so he could affect positive change, knowing what happened previously.

Kokopelli replied:

That is so down-stream in an alternate time line that I can't see it from here.

Nice fragment. Little correction: Pretty sure Nightmares of Future Past is by Viridian, not JBern.

Kokopelli replied:

I do beta work for both - you'd think I have that down by now!

It's lovely to see this update -- thanks for another fun fragment! Thanks too for the Last Peverell recommendation. I'm about to spend a long weekend elsewhere, and those 260k+ words will be a welcome diversion from the boredom of an airplane.

Kokopelli replied:

Great story (Last Peverel) - needs a decent beta, but I'm enjoying it.

Oh, yeah, that's getting very interesting. I suspect Lily is going back to take over Ariana's position and alter a lot of things before they go too far. This definitely is going to get very interesting, however much you do have written.

Kokopelli replied:

Close, but no cigar - Lily is going back to 1925 and stepping into the shoes of Lycoris Black.

This is definitely a rpomising start and I look forward to seeing where you take this. I quite imagine that a Harry that's "clued in" could change a lot of things when sent back to his earlier self. Just how far back is an open question and I can see arguments for several different times in his early life. One variant I haven't seen much of is his returning to before October 31, 1981; there's a lot of capacity for change at that point but a lot of room for negative change.

Kokopelli replied:

Harry's not going back - neither is Luna (properly speaking).   Lily's going back.
