Thaks for a great read. Sorry you no longer post here.

I'm between seasons.   I stopped writing altogether when my kids were in High School, as they needed my attention more than Harry & Ginny did.   Then they all went off to school.

I switched jobs in 2016, and this last year has been extremely busy.   I have about five chapters of what will probably be a 12 chapter story in somewhat decent shape, but little time to attend to it right now.   I'm not dead yet.

A lovely, if rather abrupt, end to the story. I'm quite enchanted with your characters and saddened that the story was 'unfinished', though I do understand what you are saying about story size and such.

Off to PhoenixSong.net with me I guess!

Thanks very much for sharing your time and talent, M

I must add a minor quibble on the fact that almost all the teens seem prone to biting their lips. It's a distracting and attractive trait that separates and identifies a specific character. However, like any other 'unique trait', it loses it's significance when it is share by a majority. Just my opinion.

That was one helluva cool way to introduce a (final?) battle! M

This was a Lot of Fun!

Thanks, M

...Harry reckoned if the Wizarding thing didn’t work out, he could always fall back on domestic service, although he really didn’t fancy wearing a tea towel. ... Got a big grin from me, and reminded me to mention that Harry's sense of humor has been quite entertaining throughout :)

Albus's Grace was simply wonderful.

"I want to have a life beyond being Voldemort’s murderer-in-training... - brilliant line.

Interesting that Luna is on the List. Seems likely she would be ahead of Ginny - at least perhaps, before the Dance at the wake. Harry is exercising a tremendous amount of restraint, patience and, dare I say Wisdom?

Enjoying the tale, M

Wow! When you throw in the zinger it packs a punch! Ginny is dreaming of Tom again? YIKES! I have to admit that gave me the heebie-jeebies!

One of my favorite chapters thus far, and that's saying something.

I'm quite enjoying the way your characters move through the events, especially how well you are integrating the Snow Dragon magic as well as Abelard's teachings.

Your non-Voldy influenced Harry is quite well done, not the over-the-top happy/intuitive/powerful/horny/careless -etc... fellow so commonly portrayed in FF's, but rather a much more balanced and definitely developing guy that I'm rather fond of :)

Thanks again, M

With Conquest just starting, I thought I'd revisit this classic. Three comments, this story should have many more reviews than is currently showing. I wonder in light of your comment about so much hate mail re your religious sections if there was a wholesale elimination of reviews. I'm sure I'd left reviews for the story years ago, but I've found none so far. No big deal, though i wonder if I'll repeat myself.

The second comment is for the excellent job you've done introducing Moey and Ms. Laurel to us, mostly through showing them, rather than telling us about them. Much better than reading a list of physical and personality qualities. I can see these two women, i like them a lot at this point; and I care for them. Well done!

As for the third comment, Harry's list is brilliant! Talk about showing what our young man feels. This is revelatory and reveals a side of Harry seldom seen and never to this depth and detail. The letter is definitely one of the best ways I've read in HP fan fiction - and stories in general - to show how much he has noticed Ginny, which strongly implies how much he cares for her.

In reading the reviews to see if I had originally left one for this chapter, I saw your response as to why you had Ginny, Hermione, and their mums discuss how to respond to the Dating Dean conundrum. While my initial thought was that she should just go to Harry and simply explain why she'd said that, it occured to me that with most males linear thinking prevails. Your answer also told me that we have some fun coming up, not just a short scene where Ginny says it was to get rid of Ron.

Numbers - bah!

This story was originally archived at:

The Sugarquill (the first archive to toss me)

Phoenixsong

Sink Into Your Eyes; and

Fanficauthors.net

The story was the first new content at Phoenixsong.net and had something like 690 reviews before they changed the review system, which nuked the old reviews.  I'd printed them out and I still have a copy kicking around somewhere.

I managed to royally anger a number of archive stakeholders because I wasn't enough of a cannonista and I didn't hew to what they  believed were the one-true-pairings.  So, eventually I withdrew from the archives that hadn't kicked me out and left this as the only archive.

Stories begin with ideas.  The germ behind this overgrown short story is this chapter and the list.  I cared more about writing then, so yes, parts of this tale are well done.

Ginny did indeed have a  lying dirtbag shrew problem - personally I like how I resolved it more than how JKR resolved it, but she's a billionaire and I'm not.

Thanks for reading, thanks for writing.  Chapter 4 of BROC went to the betas last night, and I'm already choreographing the big scene in Chapter 5 of BROC.

Actually, I liked the parts where they showed there was more to the outside world - like religion. Given the existence of godparents, why wouldn't it exist? Wish there was more fleshed out, sometimes...

I really liked the author's notes - both for extra information (things you filled out in outline) and for the character's that spoke for themselves.

Enjoyed this story quite a lot and I'm off to read the sequel. Thanks for posting!

As you'll find if you read the reviews for "Wade in the Water" in Tales from Sixth (and Seventh) Year I tended to rub a lot of people the wrong way on my portrayal of religion.   Ah well, they can ask for a refund on their way out the door.

Thanks for reading.

Whilst we Brits know what is meant by child minding, we must definitely refer to it as babysitting x

*beating Ron to a bloody pulp* I like his character, I do, but I like Harry more. I'm not sure if I like this story as a fanfic, but I'm a sucker for well written dragon stories and the mix of Harry Potter and original dragon lore has enthralled me. I haven't run across original dragon lore for...forever. Its refreshing.

Kokopelli replied:

I'm at a loss as to why you're going to do violence to Mr Weasley, who in TLOS is a much less repulsive character than in canon.

Thanks for your kind words.

Thank you. I got very little done the last few days. It was nearly impossible to put down, and I found myself thinking about it when I wasn't able to read. It's embarrassing that a woman in her mid-50s could get so involved. Thanks again.

This is a really amazing fic, and I loved it!
It's a slow fic, but I think that's what makes it really work. There's no sense of rushing, of trying to get anywhere, more of a calm boat ride, where you know how it will end. (As in relationships).

Your characters are really likable, and I enjoyed reading about Jasmine, Alberd, Moey, and the rest. Normally against original characters, I thought you introduced them in a way where they worked, (wonderfully I might add).

I liked the dragon magic, and how it ties Ginny and Harry to together even more firmly, and the whole idea of the War witch.

TBH, After reading it I've forgotten some parts, (Probably from trying to absorb it all in one sitting), but it's one of those fics I'll come back to in the future, because I know it's worth reading again.

On the note of religion, It seemed to work in this story, but it was a bit foreign. I personally found it a bit uncomfortable, and while not glossed over it, skimmed slightly. I think it is personal preference.

The plot line was good, and I enjoyed it immensely! Even though there wasn't much to it, I think you've written it well.

Write more!

I've just finished reading this story for the second time. I read it a long time ago and just ran across it again. I think you are a very good author. I enjoyed this story line and do like that you've added a spiritual element. I've always found it hard to believe that there are no christians in the wizarding world. Thank you for sharing your talent with us. I'm off to read Stories from 6th (and 7th) Year again.

Sweet! I like how powerful Harry has become without the addition of 50,000 new superpowers. I love your realistic (for HP) but powerful OCs. I really really like how H was not "stuck" with Ginny at the very start, and got to flirt a little. Too many H/G fics just slam them together on the first page. Masterful work. Thank you!

I was trying to break as many cliches in HP fanfic as possible when I wrote TLOS.   Thanks for reading.

Just a note. Harry faced a Hungarian Horntail in the Tri-Wizard Tournament. The Norwegian Ridgeback was Norbert, Hagrid's dragon in HP & the PS.

Well spotted!

a perfect story. Congratulations, i love the way the two of them bounded, it was slow and you didn't try to make together too soon, which is what happens in most of the fanfics i read. Congratulations again, i'm going to read the sequel.
